2017-18 Season of the Wisconsin Philharmonic

Alexander Platt

Welcome to our 2017-18 season at the Wisconsin Philharmonic – our 70th season! We are proud to have reached this platinum milestone in our long history of offering Waukesha County the finest in classical and pops programming. For all of our concerts, we return to the comforts of the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center, with its beautiful acoustics and ample parking, with the exception of our traditional holiday concert that will be held at the Shattuck Music Center in December.

I hope that you will join us in October as we throw ourselves a party – our “official” 70th birthday celebration! A look back to the 1960s music of the Mad Men era will jazz up your November with the be-bopping vocal group Five by Design, and we look to the Northern Lights for inspiration for our holiday concert, a Scandinavian Christmas.

Once again, the Philharmonic will be performing at Waukesha’s Janboree, with free admission to children 16 and under.

A night of solo stars fills our March concert on a Sunday afternoon. Brookfield East High School’s own Julian Rhee returns home after a triumphant appearance with the Pittsburgh Symphony. The principal wind players of the Philharmonic will inspire with music of Mozart and Ibert.

Our final concert in April will be a celebration of women in music. Two female composers are on the program and Italian pianist Alessio Bax will perform the romantic powerhouse Concerto #2 by Rachmaninoff.

Come see why Waukesha County has supported us for 70 years!

Faithfully yours,

Alexander Platt
